Today we are reading a poem by Ruth Stone. I love this one — its mystery, its quiet intimacy. It sends me right back to being a very young woman (one of “two girls”) standing outside the subway with a friend, not really wanting to face down the rest of my evening alone. There’s something so sweet and true about their connection, and something so much darker about the future they are going to walk into.
