We survived January (barely). By way of celebrating, I’m sending you this missive with all my spring offerings, which I am so excited about. I truly can’t wait to read and write with you; writing in community is what is keeping me afloat these days. Read on for details, and please reach out with any questions! xx

Lunch Club this winter has been so wonderful, I wanted to keep it going and see more of your gorgeous faces working away every Tuesday morning/afternoon/evenings (depending on time zones, hello Europeans). During Lunch Club, we read a quick poem, I give you a prompt, and then you’re off to the races. It’s incredible to feel the energy of 20 or 30 women working away for an hour together. (You can read even more about it here.)
So, to that end, I’m offering a FREE Lunch Club in two weeks. Save the date for March 4th at 11am PST/2pm EST. You can register for that here. You don’t need any experience at all to join. Bring yourself! Bring your friends! Bring your mom or your daughter!
2.
If you love it (and I really, really hope you will), you can join our Spring Lunch Club, which starts in April and runs for 7 weeks. You can sign up for that here.

I am adding a reading + discussion course I am SO EXCITED ABOUT, which is called THE CLOSE READ.
In THE CLOSE READ, we’ll develop the essential skill: how to read closely and learn directly from great work. Together we’ll examine exceptional short stories and essays, discovering how they achieve their magic. We’ll look at structure, detail, and rhythm, then use what we learn as launching points for our own writing. This is a practical approach to building your craft—seeing how stories actually work, so you can elevate your own writing.
THE CLOSE READ will meet via Zoom for three Sunday afternoons (4:30pm-6pm PT) this spring as we explore:
March 16: “Year’s End” by Jhumpa Lahiri
April 27: “The Doctor and the Rabbi” by Aimee Bender
May 18: “The Fourth State of Matter” by Jo Ann Beard
All texts will be provided.
THE CLOSE READ combines the rigor of literary analysis with the warmth and support of a writing circle. Whether you're working on your own creative projects or simply want to deepen your relationship with reading and writing, this class will help you see literature—and your own potential as a writer—in new ways.
Together, we'll create an environment where close attention to craft feeds creative ambition. I can't wait to read with you.
**Cost:** $100 for all three sessions, or $50 per individual session.
Please reach out with any and all questions. I can’t wait to see you there.
