Well, hello! And welcome to Poems + Prompts, the paid edition of People + Bodies. I’m so happy you’re here to do a little reading and writing.

Today’s poem by Rafiq Kathwari boggles the mind. It is one of the shortest — but most expansive —poems I have ever read, with a title with more words than the poem itself. And yet, a whole world is created, one of formality and intimacy. Worlds, countries, cultures, cities are traversed. Relationships are brought into vivid focus. And yet, it doesn’t interpret itself, it allows us to project our own understanding, our own assumptions and experiences onto it. What does it make you feel? What do you imagine is happening here?
