This week, we will read a poem I love by Nicole Sealey. I recommend reading this on a computer so you can get the line breaks right!
Hereβs how this will work: You read the poem β I ask that you read it more than once; at least twice, and really, three times β and just see what comes up for you. What do you notice about (in this case): the form (a list? a form for a doctor?) and how it shifts; the placement of characters (named and unnamed); the way it adheres to and undermines the very notion of a medical history. What does it make you feel? Where do you feel those things? (Prompt will come below.)
