Thank you for this. I’m three weeks post-foot surgery right now, dreaming of walking without mobility aids again. “this will be harder on your mind than on your body” is so right.
I read this in an infusion chair to suppress my immune system against an autoimmune disease that incidentally also causes me chronic SI troubles. The infusions don't help with the sacroiliitis, though, which mostly waxes and wanes with stress at the intersections of personal and political grief. In reading your story, I felt my own brought a bit to light, or ordered in a certain way, or accompanied, and I want to thank you for bearing witness to the body (your body) (our bodies) and putting into words some longings and lessons that often feel very individual and isolating to me.
Beautiful, relatable words. ❤️ When my mind is a tornado and my body is buzzing I like to walk until they calm. Sometimes I must go painfully slowly because of my own hip pain. Other times it’s too much and I can’t walk either. I’ve found a short shaking practice to be helpful in these times. Anything to get some energy release. Wishing you many zero pain days (or at least manageable pain days) ahead.
I hate that state where your mind needs to catch up to your body. Beautifully written. Hope you feel better soon

Dear Abs: these thoughts and words are so beautifully braided. Sending love to you, your sacroiliac, and the world. (Also to your abs :)
they all appreciate it! x

Oh, Amy, I hope recovery is going well! You will get there, and I know how long it can feel. Rooting for you. xx
